Honolulu firefighters extinguish the house fire in Kalihi

Firefighters extinguished a house fire in Kalihi late this afternoon.

The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call for the fire at 1375 Alewa Drive today at 4:48 p.m. Eight units, staffed with approximately 30 men, responded. The first unit arrived at the two-story home at 4:54 p.m. and observed smoke coming from the home.

The fire brigade had the fire under control at 5:04 p.m. Less than 20 minutes later, at 5:23 p.m., no one was in the house when the fire broke out.

Investigations are underway to determine the origin and cause of the fire and provide estimates of damage costs.
