LeBron James shocked the entire NBA when he rose near the end of the second quarter and sank the longest three-pointer of his season from 35 feet to beat the buzzer in the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Defending champion Denver Nuggets hosted the seventh-ranked Los Angeles Lakers in the Mile High City during game one of the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

As it turned out, LeBron James and Anthony Davis started the game strong as the Los Angeles Lakers climbed to an early lead.

With LeBron James and Lakers coming out on purpose, perhaps the most notable moment came when James stood up and hit a deep three-point shot from 35 feet to beat the buzzer.

This marked LeBron James’ longest three-pointer of the NBA season and it’s even more amazing considering James has struggled from the three-point line this season.

Thanks to James, the Los Angeles Lakers led 60-57 at halftime.

Denver Nuggets defeated Los Angeles Lakers for the ninth straight game

Yes, you heard right, the Denver Nuggets have now defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in each of their last nine meetings. One of those was last season in the Western Conference Finals, when the Los Angeles Lakers were defeated 4-0 by the eventual champions.

Heading into the meeting, Lakers superstar Anthony Davis and coach Darvin Hamm made sure to let people know the team liked their chances of keeping Jokic and his troops from going back-to-back.

The Lakers started strong as LeBron James had 19 points at halftime and Anthony Davis also dominated. But as the game grew, NBA MVP frontrunner Nikola Jokic and Point Guard Jamal Murray took over as the Denver Nuggets ultimately won 114-103.

The Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers will now face off on Monday night in game two of the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
